TL;DR
• From construction worker to designing apps at the US Open. The pivot is possible.
• Greek dance, Astoria, and watching your kids make the same friends you did.
• I built a 1,459 page website for less than agency prices. Your business deserves that.
• The question you've been avoiding about the version of yourself you keep postponing.
• Two men's circles this month: April 11th in Astoria, April 30th in Larchmont.
I want to be careful about how I say this, because it's easy to come off wrong.
But I mean it completely: you can become whoever you want to be. Right now. With what you already have access to.
I know because I did it at 33.
Every night, after my first kid (newborn) went to sleep, I sat down at the kitchen table and taught myself UX Design. No classroom. No shortcuts. Just online courses, stubbornness, and a handful of reasons to show up.
Months of that and close to 100 job applications sent.
A bunch of internships and portfolio building…
Then the right door opened. I landed at the USTA/US Open.
Think about what that means for a second. A kid who spent his entire 20's in construction, now designing the apps that Stefanos Tsitsipas and Novak Djokovic had to use to manage their player Visas. Building the logistics app that tracked Covid incidents in real time and kept the 2021 Open from falling apart.
I'm not writing you this to impress you. I say it because the gap between where you are and where you want to be is smaller than you think, and the tools to close that gap have never been more available.
AI. Online courses. YouTube. Communities of people already doing the thing you want to do.
There is no excuse left. There is only the decision.
(I touch upon this on a recent podcast you can watch here.)

THIS WEEK IN FATHERHOOD
The Full Circle in an Astoria Church Hall
I take my kids to Greek dance every week.
Same society we've been part of forever. The same traditional footwork, the same songs I grew up with.
What got me was watching my kids build relationships with kids they're just starting to know -- and realizing those kids belong to my friends. People I met in that exact same setting, at that exact same age.
Something about it is difficult to describe. It's not nostalgia exactly. It's more like watching a thing you love prove that it was worth loving.
The bonds I made in that dance group are still some of the strongest I have. If my kids walk away with even a fraction of that, I'll consider it one of the best gifts we gave them.
Some traditions earn their keep.
WHAT I BUILT THIS WEEK
A 1,459 Page Website.
I asked my AI assistant this week to describe a site I just finished building.
HVAC company on Long Island.
1,459 pages.
Programmatic SEO across 185 locations.
Schema markup on every single one.
Blog CMS.
Lead capture.
The whole 9 yards.
You know what that would cost from a freelancer? $10k to $20k.
A mid-tier agency? $25k to $90k.
Enterprise? Don't ask.
Most people running a serious businesses have no idea that kind of reach is within their budget -- they just assume it isn't and move on.
Or, they don’t know they value of having a massive edge on their competition online. An octopus of a website, working it’s tentacles 24/7, pulling in leads on your behalf.
I build this stuff. And I charge like a human.
If your business could benefit from being found online, let's talk.
Here’s a Good Question…
Most people are one decision away from a completely different life. Not one lucky break. Not one perfect circumstance.
One decision -- followed by the unglamorous work of actually doing the thing.
What is the version of yourself you keep putting off? And what would it look like to start becoming that person tonight, with what you already have?
Happy Journaling!
