Most people try to change their lives by forcing themselves into new habits.
We set goals. We try to “stay disciplined.” We push harder.

Truth is though, willpower runs out.
Identity doesn’t.

That’s why I want to share a small but powerful system I’ve come across.
It’s so simple you could set it up in 60 seconds.
Yet it can completely shift how you show up in every part of your life.

It’s called “The 3 Alarm System.”

It comes from Eric Partaker.
And it’s built around one simple idea:

Change who you believe you are, and your actions will follow.

It’s based on something called identity-based behavior change.
Instead of trying to change what you do, you shift who you believe you are.
And when your identity changes, your habits follow almost automatically.

So here’s how the system works and how to do it…

1. Pick Your Three Identities

Think about the three areas that matter most.
Health.
Wealth (Work).
Relationships.

For each one, choose a short identity phrase that represents your best self in that area.

Examples:

  • “World Fitness Champion.”

  • “World’s Best Coach.”

  • “World’s Best Partner & Father.”

These aren’t titles you have to earn.
They’re identities you step into.

2. Set Three Alarms

Now, connect those identities to moments in your day with phone alarms.

Morning: Set one before or during your workout.
Label it “World Fitness Champion.”

Start of Work: Set one right before you open your laptop.
Label it “World’s Best [add your job title].”

Evening: Set one as work ends.
Label it “World’s Best Husband & Father.”

Every time that alarm goes off, pause.

Breathe.

Now ask yourself: “How would this version of me act right now?”

Then do that.

3. Let Identity Drive Action

This is where the magic happens.
Because you’re no longer trying to “force” better behavior.
You’re simply being the version of you that would naturally make those choices.

This small daily system helps you:

  • Train your mind and body without thinking twice.

  • Stay focused and intentional at work.

  • Disconnect and be present with your people when it matters.

It’s a simple way to bring more consistency, clarity, and alignment into your day.
And it doesn’t add more complexity.

Try It This Week

If you try this, commit to it for one week.
Just seven days.
I promise you’ll feel the difference.

Not because you did more.
But because you showed up as your best self more often.

You don’t need a new app.
You don’t need another course.
Just three alarms.
Three identities.
And the choice to live by them.

Share this system with someone you respect.

LVX,
Nick.
